Uche Ignites Comfortable Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Missing star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually secures them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the last 16, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Moment

This match provided a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were no match against a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Control Asserted from the Outset

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official waved away the protests.

The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
